Why God Paid the Ultimate Price for Your Salvation?
Have you ever wondered…Why didn’t God just forgive us?
If God is so loving, why didn’t He just forgive our sins and give us eternal life back?
Why did Jesus have to die?
In the beginning, God freely gave Adam and Eve the grace of eternal life through the Tree of Life.
But when they sinned, that gift was lost. Death entered the world.
And because of sin, all of us fell into a black hole. Psalm 49 says no human can ever pay the ransom, because the price is too costly. It can never be enough.
Psalm 49:7-9
7 Truly no man can ransom another,
or give to God the price of his life,
8 for the ransom of their life is costly
and can “never suffice”,
9 that he should live on forever
and never see the pit.
But why God couldn’t just “forgive and forget”? So why not just wipe the slate clean? Wouldn’t Jesus have avoided dying then?
Because God set a foundational law for all creation:
“Whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
This law is like the foundation of a house. If no one (such as Adam, the serpent, or anyone) had to face the consequences of their behavior, the entire moral order of the universe would collapse into lawlessness.
God is perfectly just. He does not break this law, not even Himself—the Most High, the Lawmaker. That’s why salvation requires a real price—a perfect, sinless life that pays the debt Adam lost, in order to satisfy this law.
[The Great Price & Great Love ]
No ordinary human could pay it. Only Jesus—born of the Holy Spirit, without sin—could offer a perfect life as the ransom. The Father gave His beloved Son and Jesus willingly laid down His life.
Romans 5:8 says: “God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The first gift of eternal life was free and easy, but the second gift cost great price. And yet God still offers it to us as a free gift of grace.
1 Corinthians 6:20: “You were bought with a price.”
That is how great the love of the Father and of Jesus really is.
They paid the unpayable cost so that we could regain eternal life, lost and found. So how will you respond to such love? We should thank Him. Love Him back. Live for the One who bought you with His own blood.
