Babylon the Great
But what does “Babylon the great” mean? Let’s read Revelation chapter 17 and 18 first…
Revelation chapter 17
1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me,
“Come, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who is seated on many waters,
2 with whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and with the wine of whose sexual immorality the dwellers on earth have become drunk.”
3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns.
4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality.
5 And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.”
6 And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.
When I saw her, I marveled greatly.
7 But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her.
15 And the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages.
18 And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.”
Revelation Chapter 18
1 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his glory.
2 And he called out with a mighty voice,
“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
She has become a dwelling place for demons,
a haunt for every unclean spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.
3 For all nations have drunk
the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality,
and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her,
and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living.”
23 …and all nations were deceived by your sorcery.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints,
and of all who have been slain on earth.
What does “Babylon the great” mean?
Firstly, someone says it symbolic or represents the Roman Empire. We have discussed about the Roman Empire in <The Four Great Beasts> and <The Beast 666>, actually Roman Empire is the first part of the fourth beast, so it cannot be the “Babylon the great”. Otherwise, if “Babylon the great” means Roman Empire, how can she ride the “seven heads and ten horns beast”, is that mean she rides herself?
On the other hand, the seven heads means seven kings, five kings have fallen, one is existing in John’s time, one is not come. Five kings are Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Medo-Persia and Greece. And in the Egyptian and Assyrian times, the Rome even didn’t exist at all… so how could she ride the beast? Therefore “Babylon the great” it won’t be the Roman Empire.
Another explanation is it means AntiChrist, but clearly it won’t be the antichrist. Why? During the period of the five kings, Jesus Christ has not yet come, then how could the AntiChrist occur? How can the AntiChrist anti the Christ before he is come? So that’s clear it won’t be the AntiChrist.
The most people believe is : it symbolic Roman Catholic or Catholic or the whole of false religion. First of all, it won’t be Roman Catholic or Catholic, same reason as ‘AntiChrist’ and ‘Roman Empire’, for she is even not exist during the five kings period.
How about if it means “the whole of false religion”? It seems does not entirely match the Revelation chapter 17,18. Why?
Firstly, Revelation 17:18 says the prostitute “has dominion over the kings of the earth”. Let’s think about it, who has greater power? Is the “religion” or “kings”? Is “religion” riding “kings” or “kings” riding “religion”?
In our history, most of the time is the “king” greater, for example Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon ordered the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers to tell him his dream otherwise all of them would be killed. They were the servants of the “king”. Only a short time in the Middle Ages of Europe can be said the “religion” is equal or greater than “king”. For the other time, almost all “kings” are greater or riding the “religion”.
Another reason is : it seems she is close and with strong relationship of merchants, including “all” shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and “all” whose trade on the sea. It seems after the “Prostitute” has burned, “all” their business and the trade has gone and lost, since “no one” buys their cargo anymore. So if “Prostitute” means “false religion”, how come burn the “false religion” will make “all” their business gone? It seems not directly related to it, right? Those cargo include…
“cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, 13 cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.” – Rev. 18:12,13.
There is an interesting question : If it means “false religion”, after it has burned, is that people no need to buy those things? Why their business has gone? Part of those things are people’s daily needs, such as oil, fine flour, wheat… does people no longer needed after the “false religion” is burned? So it seems something not match.
One more reason is after the prostitute the “false religion” is burned, the “false prophet” and the beast will be captured. These two will be thrown alive into the lake of fire. If the “Prostitute” means the “false religion”, how come another “false prophet-false religion” is appeared after she has burned? Therefore the prostitute does not mean the “false religion”, and Bible clearly says that another called “false prophet” who really means the “false religion”.
Then what does “Babylon the great – mother of Prostitute” mean? Let’s see some verses…
Revelation 18:2 “She has become a dwelling place for “demons”, a haunt for “every unclean spirit“, a haunt for “every unclean bird“, a haunt for “every unclean and detestable beast“”.
Revelation 17:18 “And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth”.
So the woman means a great city and every unclean spirit, unclean bird and unclean beast(means evil spirits or evil angels or demons) living there. Therefore ‘Babylon the great’ symbolic or relate to a ‘place’ or ‘city’ or ‘organization’ or ‘system‘ that the Devil Satan and his unclean spirit evil angels live and control there.
This great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth, means ruling this world.
John 12:31 “Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world(Devil Satan) be cast out”.
How does this ‘city‘ rule the kings and all people of the earth?
Revelation 18:3,6 “For all nations ‘have drunk‘ the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her, 6 …’the cup she mixed‘”.
Revelation 18:23 … all nations were deceived by your “sorcery“.
How does the Babylon the great the Prostitute deceive all nations? The angel said they were deceived by ‘sorcery‘. This bring us back to the first time of Adam and Eve were deceived. After Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, their eyes were opened and knew they were naked. They felt uncomfortable and their mind was changed. Why have they changed? It seems someone told them or sent message to them.
It was never happened before they ate the fruit. Who sent message to them? You know, it’s the Devil Satan. How did he send message to them? It seems Adam and Eve opened a communication window, to receive message from Devil Satan. Revelation 18:23 give us an answer, Bible calls it “Sorcery” which is the method of spirit communication of the Devil with men. It seems Devil Satan use this “Sorcery” method to send message to human.
Before Adam and Eve ate the fruit, it seems this communication window the “Sorcery” was in the close status. But after they ate the fruit, this “Sorcery” window was opened. That’s why after that Devil Satan could deceive all people, all nations and all kings through this communication window. Please read <The Tree of knowledge of good and evil>.
How does Devil Satan deceive people? There are mainly two methods.
Revelation 17:2,4,5 “…and with the wine of whose sexual immorality the dwellers on earth have become drunk.4 …holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations(1) and the impurities of her sexual immorality(2). 5 And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.”
What does it mean of “a golden cup”?
This golden cup full of her abominations and sexual immorality and she mix it and then give it to all people to drink. The golden cup means the mind of people dwelling on earth, the “Sorcery” is the way of Devil used to send message and deceive people. This is the evil way of spirit communication.
Ecclesiastes 12:5-7 “…because man is going to his eternal home, …the silver cord is snapped, or the ‘golden bowl‘ is broken…7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it”. What is golden bowl? What does it mean?
The golden bowl means the mind and the soul of peoples, ‘Prostitute’ gives her golden cup(Sorcery) full of sexual immorality and abominations to people’s golden bowls(the minds and the souls) to drink. Now all peoples and multitudes and nations and languages are drunk of her cup of sexual immorality and abominations. That’s why our world is full of “sexual immorality”. I think you would know the meaning of “sexual immorality”, but what is abominations? It means the war and atrocities. Why we can say that?
Daniel 9:27 “…And on the wing of “abominations” shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”
Matthew 24:15,16 “So when you see the “abomination” of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.”
So ‘the mother of Prostitutes’ gives the abominations-the war and atrocities to all people to drink include seven heads beast. And she “drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus”.
“Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues”. How can God’s people come out of ‘the mother of Prostitutes’? If the sexual immorality and atrocities come up in our mind, close the mind window from the Sorcery of Devil unclean spirits, stop communicating with them, lest you take part in her sins.
So what does ‘Babylon the great’ mean?
‘Babylon the great’ means “a place” or “a city” or “an organization” or “a system” in the spiritual world controlled by Devil and unclean spirits. This city or organization or system has dominion over the kings of the earth, YHWH God use the prostitute woman to symbolic this evil organization, for she brings the sexual immorality and the wars and atrocities.
Do you know, Jesus’ wife the woman who clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure(righteous), she is also a city, but she is a holy city. This city is the ‘New Jerusalem‘ of heaven has dominion over all the kings of the earth also. This city(New Jerusalem) is formed by 144000 saints, she is also a place or a city or an organization or a system. It can be said after the prostitute has burned, the New Jerusalem city is formed and will replace Babylon the great. God will judge Babylon the great and she will disappear forever, and then God will give the dominion to the “New Jerusalem”.
Revelation 18:20-24
20 Rejoice over her, O heaven,
and you saints and apostles and prophets,
for God has given judgment for you against her!”
21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying,
“So will Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence,
and will be found no more;
22 and the sound of harpists and musicians, of flute players and trumpeters,
will be heard in you no more,
and a craftsman of any craft
will be found in you no more,
and the sound of the mill
will be heard in you no more,
23 and the light of a lamp
will shine in you no more,
and the voice of bridegroom and bride
will be heard in you no more,
for your merchants were the great ones of the earth,
and all nations were deceived by your sorcery.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints,
and of all who have been slain on earth.”
But there has something confused and unbelievable : If ‘Babylon the great’ means the system or city that Devil controlled, how does the beast be possible to ‘make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire’? For ‘Babylon the great’ is the place evil spirits controlling, they are in the “spiritual world“, how can the beast devour her? It is impossible!
Matthew 19:26 “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”.
Why is possible? Because this is not the work of man but God. Revelation 17:16,17 “And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire, 17 for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled”.
So how does it actually happen?
Actually the system of our world can be said was setup and ruled by “Babylon the great”(the city of Devil Satan), which is including the “political system“(kings of the earth), the “trading commercial system“(merchants of the earth) and “transportation system“(all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors). These three systems are controlling our earth operation and people’s live, this system is controlling by ‘the mother of Prostitutes’-‘Babylon the great’.
So what does it mean the beast “devour her flesh and burn her up with fire”? Is that mean the beast will break(burn) those three systems? Yes, maybe it relates to Revelation 16:19 “The great city was split into three parts“. But how does it happen?
We have no idea before, but now we are in the final period of the End Day, something is happening and giving us an idea how this will happen. What’s that?
Makes it happen is performed by 2 parties : ten horns(symbolic ten kings-EU) and the beast(US). So what does it means?
Now we are living in the disruptive world, which is developing the disruptive system right now. “What do you talking about?” I mean the newest and most power technology is developing which calls “AI” artificial intelligence, you must have heard it too. How powerful of “AI” will be?
Many experts warn that “AI” may lead to human extinction and it will replace humans. Surely human won’t be extinction but we believe “AI” shall replace jobs of humans. Many experts said people no need to work in the future, It can do anything by just upload the specific job’s data into the “AI robot”. Is that what Bible’s mean of ten horns and the beast burn the ‘the mother of Prostitutes’ ?
Yes probable, and it is most likely of that. For “AI” will be the disruptive technology of our world, subvert the existing system(burn the prostitute). Who will make it happen? Yes, they are ten horns(EU) and the beast(US). So the “AI” chip(“AI” hardware and software) will be developed and made by EU and US, not China or other countries. Experts warn this will happen very soon… Bible says it happens in the “last one hour” of the End Day.
And after the ‘mother of Prostitutes’ is burned, what will happen?
Revelation 18:9-19
9 And the kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived in luxury with her(maybe no massive income of tax or money like before), will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning. 10 They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,
“Alas! Alas! You great city,
you mighty city, Babylon!
For in a “single hour” your judgment has come.”
Maybe the kings the political leaders do not get monetary benefits and no luxurious living any more. They will weep and wail say “Alas! Alas! The judgement has come and the luxury has burned and overed!
11 And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore, 12 cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, 13 cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.
14 “The fruit for which your soul longed
has gone from you,
and all your delicacies and your splendors
are lost to you,
never to be found again!”
15 The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,
16 “Alas, alas, for the great city
that was clothed in fine linen,
in purple and scarlet,
adorned with gold,
with jewels, and with pearls!
17 For in a “single hour” all this wealth has been laid waste.”
So maybe “AI” can make all these things like gold, silver… fine linen, purple cloth, silk… all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory… bronze, iron… cinnamon, spice… wine, oil, fine flour… cattle and sheep… and slaves, that is, human souls(no need human resources anymore).
At that time the merchants will be weeping and mourning aloud “Alas, alas, the commercial system has been laid waste” for no one buy their goods…
17 And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off 18 and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning,
“What city was like the great city?”
19 And they threw dust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,
“Alas, alas, for the great city
where all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!
For in a “single hour” she has been laid waste.
People who are working in transportation will lose their jobs. Why? For AI robot will replace their job. They will weep and mourn and crying out “Alas, Alas, no need the transportation job any more, it has been laid waste”.
For in a “single hour“(in the final part of End Day) your judgment has come, her system has been laid waste. The ten horns and the beast will make her system desolate and naked, and devour her flesh(system) and burn her system up with fire, her system be laid waste.
Amen.
For God has put it into their hearts(ten horns and the beast) to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. Amen.
