Does “Seventy Sevens” or “Seventy Weeks” prophecy symbolic or literal?
To be honest, we don’t know the exact happening time of something except we are the witnesses. Even if there were witnesses, with their passing no one can provide the exact time when did the event occur. Do you know the happened timing of a event 500 years ago? Or even 2500 years ago?
We are not archaeologist or historian, how could we confirm exactly the timing happened of a event? Even archaeologists are guessing or estimating when was it happened, like no body knows exactly the year of Christ was born, what is the exact 1st year of Darius. Do you know Darius? Do you know his father Ahasuerus?
Therefore what do you think if God wants to tell us His plan(prophecy)? He wants us to calcaulate the begining time of a event about 2500 years ago? We have no idea all about those events, people, time, how could we know it? Do God’s people have to become archaeologist or historian first before they could understand the prohecy?
Therefore, it would be impossible for us to know the beginning time of the prophecy if it is literal, that’s why you see many arguments about how to calculate “Seventy Sevens”. But a symbolic prophecy with signs could let us know we are in what stage of the prophecy. If God tells us the signs of the prophecy, that means it must be symbolic, signs are not important for literal prophecy. Unless God tells us the timing of literal prophecy, otherwise the prophecy is symbolic, and also we know most prophecy in Bible are symbolic.
